Tian Lu et al.

Summary: The powerful independent gradient model (IGM) method has limitations in graphically studying weak interactions. In this article, an improved version of IGM, called IGM based on Hirshfeld partition (IGMH), is proposed to overcome the shortcomings. The rigorous physical background of IGMH is demonstrated through various application examples, showcasing its important value in intuitively understanding interactions in chemical systems.

Tunnel structured manganese dioxides for the gaseous ammonia adsorption and its regeneration performance

Yu Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, different tunnel structured MnO2 materials were evaluated for the adsorption of gaseous ammonia. The alpha-MnO2 exhibited the best adsorption performance due to its well-developed tunnel structure and abundance of surface acidic sites. Furthermore, alpha-MnO2 can be regenerated and recycled at a relatively low temperature, making it an attractive adsorbent for ammonia purification.

Role of Structure in the Ammonia Uptake of Porous PolyionicLiquids

Li Luo et al.

Summary: By adjusting the size of the cross-linking agent R, the metallic anion M(II), and the cationic polymer framework, the NH3 uptake properties of polyionic liquids (PILs) were tuned. The NH3 uptake was proposed to be coordinated with M(II), and the capacity was dominated by the metal center. Increasing the size of R benefited the NH3 uptake capacity but affected the porosity and NH3 desorption negatively. The stability of the cationic polymer framework protected the PILs from collapse, and tunable porosity and NH3 uptake properties were achieved through flexible structural design.

Zirconium Metal-Organic Frameworks Integrating Chloride Ions for Ammonia Capture and/or Chemical Separation

Jian Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that NU-1000-Cl has enhanced capacity for both reversible and irreversible uptake of ammonia compared to the chloride-free version. The presence of chloride ions also facilitates irreversible reactions between ammonia and NU-1000-Cl. The chemical interactions between ammonia and NU1000-Cl result in the separation of NH3 from N-2 at room temperature.
