Yb/WO3/Yb back to back Schottky barriers designed as voltage controlled rectifiers and as microwave resonators

A. F. Qasrawi et al.

Summary: In this study, p-WO3 thin films coated onto ytterbium thin film substrates were used to fabricate back to back Schottky barriers. The films were grown using thermal evaporation technique and were characterized structurally, morphologically, optically and electrically. The results showed that the grown p-WO3 layers were amorphous with excess oxygen. The electrical properties of the BBS devices confirmed the tunneling type of the Schottky barriers. Additionally, impedance spectroscopy measurements revealed the wide tunability of resistance and capacitance, making the Yb/rho-WO3/Yb BBS devices suitable for microwave resonators in 4G/5G technologies.

Tungsten oxide/fullerene-based nanocomposites as electrocatalysts and parasitic reactions inhibitors for VO2+/VO2+ in mixed-acids

Farah A. El Diwany et al.

Summary: This study investigates a method to enhance the electrochemical reaction kinetics of all-vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs). By depositing hydrated tungsten oxide and fullerene on carbon cloth electrodes, the kinetics of the VO2+/VO2+ redox reaction was improved, and the occurrence of chlorine evolution reaction was reduced. This is significant for reducing the cost and increasing the power density and energy efficiency of VRFBs.

Charge transfer plasmon coupled surface photosensing in ZnO nanorods-Au array hetero-nanostructures

Mahla Ghaemi-moghadam et al.

Summary: Well-aligned zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs) array are grown on seeded substrates at low temperatures using a wet chemical method. Gold nanosheets are deposited around the ZnO NRs array at a glancing angle, forming a three-dimensionally plasmonic hetero-nanostructure (HNS). The localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is tuned and blue-shifted with increasing thickness of the gold nanosheet. The ZnO NRs-Au array HNS exhibits high nonlinear refractive index, nonlinear optical absorption coefficient, and photocurrent enhancement.

Influence of tin oxide (SnO2) interlayer on the electrical and reverse current conduction mechanism of Au/n-InP Schottky junction and its microstructural properties

S. Ashajyothi et al.

Summary: By inserting a SnO2 film on the Au/SnO2/n-InP heterojunction, the barrier height was increased and the interface state density was reduced, resulting in a lower reverse leakage current compared to the Schottky junction. In terms of electron transport, Poole-Frenkel emission dominated in the lower bias region, while the Schottky emission mechanism controlled at higher bias region in both SJ and HJ diodes.
