Photocatalytic hydrogen production, dye degradation, and antimicrobial activity by Ag-Fe co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles

G. K. Sukhadeve et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the preparation and characterization of Ag, Fe co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles as stable and active photocatalysts. The doping of Ag and Fe in TiO2 narrowed the band gap and induced surface plasmon resonance, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic efficiency and antimicrobial activity. Furthermore, the co-doped photocatalyst showed promising performance in hydrogen production through water splitting under visible light irradiation.

Dependence of the Physical Properties of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) Thin Films Grown by Sol-Gel (Spin-Coating) Process on Thickness

F. Zeribi et al.

Summary: Highly transparent TiO2 nano-crystalline thin films were prepared using a sol-gel spin coating technique. The effects of the number of layers on the physical properties of the films were studied. The results show that the films have an anatase phase structure and high optical transparency, while the optical gap energy decreases with increasing number of layers. The films also exhibit functional groups and chemical bonding, and the resistivity increases with the number of layers.

Summary: This work presents the linear and nonlinear absorption properties, photoluminescence, and optical limiting properties of bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) powders and films. The effects of different doping elements (M: Mo, W, and Ni) on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of BiVO4 were investigated. Experimental results demonstrated that the doping elements can control the nonlinear absorption coefficient and band gap of BiVO4, making it a promising candidate for nonlinear optical applications.

Fabrication of nanocrystalline TiO2 thin films using Sol-Gel spin coating technology and investigation of its structural, morphology and optical characteristics

Ksh Priyalakshmi Devi et al.

Summary: Although TiO2 is a popular semiconductor photocatalyst, its efficiency for solar energy conversion is limited due to its large bandgap. This paper introduces a cost-effective Sol-Gel technique using spin coating technology to fabricate nanocrystalline TiO2 thin films. The authors managed to achieve a dopant-free pure anatase nanocrystalline TiO2 thin film with a low band gap. Thorough investigations on the film's structure, optical characteristics, and surface morphology were conducted and presented.

Development of a cruciform radio-frequency closed magnetron sputtering source including four sectorial magnetron sputtering discharges for uniform target utilization

Koya Yasuda et al.

Summary: A rotational cruciform radio frequency magnetron source with four sectorial magnetron sputtering discharges has been developed for uniform target utilization. The Larmor radius and Hall parameter of electrons are discussed by considering simulated magnetic field profiles. Temporal evolutions of ion saturation current are measured and found to be consistent with the predicted results. The experimental results also show that the ion flux to the target and the target erosion profile are in good agreement, indicating high target utilization of the magnetron source.
