Construction of Bi2S3/g-C3N4 step S-scheme heterojunctions for photothermal decomposition of rhodamine B dye under natural sunlight radiations

Abanoob M. Basely et al.

Summary: A Bi2S3/g-C3N4 heterojunction photocatalyst has been developed for efficiently decomposing toxic organic pollutants using natural sunlight. The Bi2S3/g-C3N4 heterojunction enhances the photocatalytic efficiency by broadening the optical reactivity and enhancing charge-carrier transportation. The decomposition rate of rhodamine B dye on CNBiS10 nanoparticles is four times higher than that of pristine g-C3N4 and Bi2S3 nanoparticles under natural solar radiations.

Photocatalytic destruction of Congo red dye in wastewater using a novel Ag2WO4/Bi2S3 nanocomposite decorated g-C3N4 nanosheet as ternary S-scheme heterojunction: Improving the charge transfer efficiency

Zaid H. Jabbar et al.

Summary: A novel S-scheme g-C3N4/Ag2WO4/Bi2S3 heterojunction was successfully fabricated and characterized using XRD, XPS, HRTEM, DRS, photocurrent, EIS, and PL spectra. The g-C3N4 support played a vital role in improving the surface characteristics of the heterojunction and enhancing its optical and photoelectrochemical properties. The ternary photocatalyst CN/AW/BS exhibited superior degradation performance for Congo red compared to individual components or the heterojunction, and the environmental parameters were also evaluated. The dual-S-scheme electron pathway and Congo red degradation pathways were elucidated.

Solvothermal synthesis of pure and Sn-doped Bi2S3 and the evaluation of their photocatalytic activity on the degradation of methylene blue

Violet M. Nkwe et al.

Summary: A large volume of dye molecules enter the environment, accumulate in water bodies, and make the aquatic system unsafe for human health. Semiconductor photocatalysis using Bi2S3 as a catalyst has shown potential for organic pollutant destruction, with Sn doping enhancing photocatalytic activity by suppressing recombination of electron-hole pairs. These findings suggest that Sn doped Bi2S3 could serve as cost-efficient catalysts for removing methyl blue from aqueous solutions and potentially in environmental pollution treatment.
