Fabrication of g-C3N4/transition metal (Fe, Co, Ni, Mn and Cr)-doped ZnO ternary composites: Excellent visible light active photocatalysts for the degradation of organic pollutants from wastewater

Muhammad Azam Qamar et al.

Summary: This study compared the photocatalytic efficiency of metal-doped ZnO/g-C3N4 nanocomposites against MB dye. The materials were synthesized using the chemical co-precipitation method and characterized using critical analytical techniques. TEM results showed distinctive heterojunctions between g-C3N4 and metal-doped ZnO. The synthesized nanocomposites exhibited increased photocatalytic activity, possibly due to the development of exemplary interfaces between ZnO, g-C3N4 and metal dopants.

Hydrothermally synthesized strontium-modified ZnO hierarchical nanostructured photocatalyst for second-generation fluoroquinolone degradation

R. Roshan Chandrapal et al.

Summary: This study aimed to enhance the photocatalytic performance of zinc oxide by substituting it with strontium (Sr2+). Hierarchical nanostructures of Sr-ZnO at different concentrations were prepared, and the samples were characterized using various techniques. The results showed that the degradation efficiency of pollutants increased from 44% to 97% using 10% Sr-ZnO, with a time delay. Superoxide anions were found to play a significant role in the degradation process, and TOC analysis confirmed a reduction in organic carbon content. The presence of Sr atoms effectively reduced electron-hole recombination. Furthermore, the unchanged crystallinity of 10% Sr-ZnO after degradation indicated excellent stability, making it a promising candidate for environmental remediation.

Ruixin Hao et al.

Summary: A drug delivery platform based on lanthanum-doped zinc oxide (La-ZnO) quantum dots (QDs) was constructed, and 4% La doping was found to significantly improve the fluorescent properties of ZnO QDs. Experimental results showed enhanced antitumor effect of La-ZnO QDs. The dual enhancement of fluorescence and antitumor effects make La-ZnO QDs promising as a drug delivery system in cancer treatment.

La-Doped ZnO/g-C3N4Heterojunction for Efficient Degradation of Organic Contamination Under Visible Light Irradiation

Gengsheng Xu et al.

Summary: The La-ZnO/g-C(3)N(4) heterogeneous photocatalyst showed significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity for MB dye decolorization under visible light irradiation, with an optimal degradation rate of 8.72 x 10(- 2)min(- 1). The improved efficiency is attributed to the increased interfacial electron-hole separation efficiency through the construction of La-ZnO/g-C(3)N(4) heterogeneous interfaces.

Designing of highly active g-C3N4/Ni-ZnO photocatalyst nanocomposite for the disinfection and degradation of the organic dye under sunlight radiations

Muhammad Azam Qamar et al.

Summary: An efficient photocatalytic composite Ni/ZnO/g-C3N4 was successfully synthesized through a cost-effective chemical co-precipitation method. The composite demonstrated superior bactericidal and photocatalytic properties under solar radiations, attributed to the combined effects of Ni/ZnO and g-C3N4, as well as the stability provided by the Ni atoms. This makes the NiZG composite a practical candidate for environmental remediation applications.
