Achieving robust and enhanced pool boiling heat transfer using micro-nano multiscale structures

Summary: This paper proposes a fabrication method of capillary wicks with micro-nano multiscale structures using micro hot embossing and high-pressure hydrothermal treatment. The superhydrophilic micro-nano structures achieve significantly improved critical heat flux and heat transfer coefficient simultaneously. Moreover, the fabricated micro-nano capillary wick can maintain its outstanding superhydrophilicity and superhydrophobicity even after high-pressure high-velocity fluid scouring. This cost-effective fabrication method provides an ideal approach for mass production of vapor chamber capillary wicks suitable for severe application environments.

Electrically assisted manufacturing of microchannels with enhanced filling quality and microstructural performance for thermal management

Summary: This study investigated the filling behavior and microstructural evolution of SUS304 sheets under the influence of electric current. The results showed that a higher current density can shorten the initial extrusion stage and improve the filling height and profile quality. The electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) results demonstrated the occurrence of recrystallization due to the synergistic effect of deformation and current. A high-performance PCHE prototype was successfully manufactured by electrically assisted manufacturing (EAM), confirming its capability for high-quality fabrication of enhanced microchannels.

Summary: This study presents a controllable hydrophilic titanium surface with switchable wettability, achieved by femtosecond laser processing. The transformation from micro-groove to micro-protrusion is realized by adjusting laser processing parameters, and the formation mechanism is explored. The micro-protrusion array shows better hydrophilicity compared to the micro-groove array and can maintain it even after long-term use.

Hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of Inconel 625 superalloy sheet

Summary: The hot deformation behavior and microstructural evolution of Inconel 625 superalloy sheet under different conditions were investigated. The plastic flow behavior of the Inconel 625 sheet changes from work hardening to hot softening with the rise of experimental temperature and the decline of strain rate. The optimal hot working window appears at the temperature range of 925 and 950 degrees C and the strain rate between 0.001 and 0.1 s-1 with the power dissipation efficiency of about 46.5%.

The synergetic effects of laser texturing and super-hydrophobic coatings on improving wear properties of steel

Summary: By investigating the synergetic effects of laser texturing and super-hydrophobic coatings, this study found that coated groove-textured surfaces (CGSs) exhibit significant anti-friction and wear-resisting properties under low load. The wear resistance of CGSs decreases with increasing texture density. A load of 0.5 N applied on CGSs with a texture density of 10% reduced the friction coefficient and wear loss by 22.3% and 73.5%, respectively, compared to polished steel surfaces (PSSs).
