The recyclable silver-decorated magnetic Fe3O4/tannin composites (MFTA) were prepared and evaluated for their catalytic and antimicrobial activities. The MFTA3 composite showed the highest catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol and exhibited significant antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
The recyclable silver-decorated magnetic Fe3O4/tannin composites Fe3O4@TA-Ag (MFTA) were prepared by hydrothermal method and characterized by XRD, XPS, TEM, and UV-Vis techniques. The catalytic and antimicrobial activities of the MFTA composites were evaluated, and it was found that the MFTA3 composite demonstrated the highest catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, with a reaction rate constant of 1.039 min(-1), in comparison with the other prepared composites. Furthermore, the MFTA3 composites demonstrated significant antibacterial activity toward both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, with inhibition zones of 13.7 and 10.2 mm, respectively. This work provides promising high-performance catalysts/bactericides in environmental remediation and antibacterial applications.
