Structural, magnetic, and magnetocaloric properties of chromium doped Gd3Fe5-xCrxO12 garnet compound

Jolaikha Sultana et al.

Summary: The detailed structural, magnetic, and cryogenic magneto-caloric properties of chromium-substituted gadolinium iron garnet (Gd3Fe5-xCrxO12) nanocrystalline powders were studied. Cr3+ substitution reduced the Curie temperature by 7% at x = 0.25 and the samples showed ferrimagnetic ordering at low temperatures. The Cr3+ substituted Gd3Fe5-xCrxO12 samples exhibited promising magneto-caloric performance and have potential low-temperature magnetic refrigeration applications.

Magnetocaloric properties of Co-doped Mn0.5Fe0.5Ni1-xCoxSi0.94Al0.06 intermetallic alloys

Sharmistha Bhattacharjee et al.

Summary: We synthesized Co-doped Mn0.5Fe0.5Ni1-xCoxSi0.94Al0.06 (0.025 <= x &<= 0.05) alloys by arc melting followed by a rapidly quenched vacuum suction casting technique and studied the magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of the system. Annealed samples exhibited significantly larger transition temperatures and first-order phase transition with thermomagnetic hysteresis. The phase transitions were accompanied by large isothermal entropy changes and observed refrigeration capacities and temperature averaged entropy changes.

Magnetocaloric properties of shape-dependent nanostructured Gd2O3 oxide particles

Dipesh Neupane et al.

Summary: Single-phase Gd2O3 nanostructures with various morphologies were synthesized, including nanoparticles, nanorods, nanospheres, and nanoplates. The magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of these nanostructures were studied at different temperatures and magnetic fields. The maximum change in magnetic entropy (Delta S-M(max)) values were observed at 5 K and 5 T for the nanoplate (11.2 J kg(-1) K-1), nanorod (9.4 J kg(-1) K-1), nanosphere (9.2 J kg(-1) K-1), and nanoparticle (10.7 J kg(-1) K-1) samples. These Gd2O3 nanostructures show potential for magnetic refrigeration at cryogenic temperatures due to their large Delta S-M(max) values.

Magnetic and Mossbauer Effect Study of Ca-Sc Co-doped M-Type Strontium Hexaferrite

Summary: The study showed the influence of Ca2+-Sc3+ co-doping on the magnetic properties of Sr1-x/12Cax/12Fe12-xScxO19 hexaferrites. With increasing doping content, a significant decline in room temperature magnetic properties and changes in phase transition temperature were observed. The preferred occupancy of Sc3+ at the spin-down 4f2 site was identified as the underlying reason for the observed changes in magnetic properties and hyperfine parameters.
