An improved method to estimate the rate of change of streamflow recession and basin synthetic recession parameters from hydrographs

Man Gao et al.

Summary: The study introduces the improved IVTS method and a fitting method to minimize errors in recession analysis. The results show that these methods are effective in estimating recession slopes accurately.

Changes in nonlinearity and stability of streamflow recession characteristics under climate warming in a large glaciated basin of the Tibetan Plateau

Jiarong Wang et al.

Summary: The accelerated climate warming in the Tibetan Plateau after 1997 has had profound consequences on hydrology, geography, and social wellbeing. This study analyzes the annual streamflow recession characteristics in the Yarlung Zangbo River basin of the southern Tibetan Plateau, and finds that climate warming has significantly affected the nonlinearity of the streamflow response and stability in most subbasins. These changes are attributed to increased water storage and lengthened recession timescales due to accelerated glacier melting and permafrost thawing.

Prediction of Streamflow Recession Curves in Gauged and Ungauged Basins

Shailesh Kumar Singh et al.

Summary: The study addresses the challenging problem of predicting the time for a natural basin's outflow to decline from the average to a low flow value, offering new methods for accurate predictions. The developed models show high accuracy in predicting recession time and can be confidently applied elsewhere, with further testing recommended.
