Effect of mineral N fertilizer and organic input on maize yield and soil water content for assessing optimal N and irrigation rates in Central Kenya

Stephen Okoth Aluoch et al.

Summary: This study assessed optimal nutrient and irrigation management practices for maize in central Kenya using field experiments and modeling simulations. The combination of fertilizer and manure resulted in the highest yield, while the combination of fertilizer and straw resulted in the highest soil water content. The model successfully predicted grain yield and changes in soil water content in different treatments, revealing the importance of soil moisture during the grain-filling stage.

Formulating Convolutional Neural Network for mapping total aquifer vulnerability to pollution

Ata Allah Nadiri et al.

Summary: This study established an artificial intelligence model based on Convolutional Neural Network to reduce subjectivity in aquifer vulnerability assessment. By applying this model to an unconfined aquifer in northwest Iran, different vulnerability indices were calculated and it was found that despite similar AUC values, significant differences exist in the spatial patterns of the results.

Optimizing nitrogen application for drip-irrigated winter wheat using the DSSAT-CERES-Wheat model

Zhuanyun Si et al.

Summary: Improper nitrogen fertilizer application in winter wheat production in the North China Plain can lead to reduced nitrogen use efficiency and increased risk of non-point pollution. The study calibrated the DSSAT-CERES-Wheat model and found that 180 kg ha(-1) was the optimal nitrogen application rate for drip-irrigated winter wheat production in the NCP.

Comparison of Deep Learning Techniques for River Streamflow Forecasting

Xuan-Hien Le et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of DL models in streamflow forecasting by comparing six supervised learning models. The findings suggest that LSTM-based models outperformed FFNN and CNN models in terms of both performance and stability. However, the more complex StackedLSTM and BiLSTM models did not show improvements in performance. For streamflow forecasting, simple architecture LSTM and GRU models are sufficient for producing reliable forecasts while minimizing computation time.
