Concentrate and degrade PFOA with a photo-regenerable composite of In-doped TNTs@AC

Jan-Max Arana Juve et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel composite adsorptive photocatalyst, activated carbon-supported titanate nanotubes doped with post-transition metal of Indium, showed excellent adsorption and photodegradation of perfluorooctanoic acid. The heterojunction structure of the composite facilitated a cooperative adsorption mode and the presence of Indium enabled direct electron transfer and subsequent defluorination. The findings demonstrated the potential of adsorptive photocatalysts for the removal and degradation of trace pollutants.

Surface Complex and Nonradical Pathways Contributing to High-Efficiency Degradation of Perfluorooctanoic Acid on Oxygen-Deficient In2O3 Derived from an In-Based Metal Organic Framework

Xin Gao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mediating role of the surface structure of In2O3 on the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). It finds that In2O3 with a higher oxygen vacancy concentration exhibits enhanced adsorption capacity and degradation performance for PFOA. The study also reveals a linear correlation between the adsorption capacity and the degradation kinetic rate constant, indicating that surface adsorption is a prerequisite for PFOA degradation. Furthermore, the presence of oxygen vacancies promotes the nonradical oxidation process of PFOA.

Coordination and Precipitation of Calcium Oxalate: Computation to Kinetics

Sean J. O. Kennedy et al.

Summary: The precipitation kinetics of calcium oxalate were investigated using a novel acidic reaction rate control and pH-monitoring method. The research found that complex formation is remarkably favorable and is diffusion rate-limited. Nucleation reaction initiates via the molecular assembly of near-zwitterionically polarized complexes.

Impacts of Reactor Configuration, Degradation Mechanisms, and Water Matrices on Perfluorocarboxylic Acid Treatment Efficiency by the UV/Bi3O(OH)(PO4)2 Photocatalytic Process

Mojtaba Qanbarzadeh et al.

Summary: Semiconductor photocatalysis is explored for treating PFAS-contaminated wastewater, with Bi3O(OH)(PO4)(2) catalyst system showing promising PFCA degradation capabilities. Different photoreactor designs lead to varied degradation efficiencies and energy consumption rates for PFAs, with implications for practical reactor design criteria.
