Clinical and radiological results of distal radioulnar joint arthroplasty with the Aptis prosthesis

Delphine Lambrecht et al.

Summary: The study presents the treatment outcomes of distal radioulnar joint disorders using the semi-constrained Aptis prosthesis. Follow-up evaluation of 19 patients showed improvement in arm and hand function, pain relief, with some complications noted.

Midterm Functional Outcome of the Linked Semiconstrained Distal Radioulnar Joint Prosthesis

Jaak Warlop et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcomes of patients with semiconstrained DRUJ implants, showing good results in wrist function and satisfaction, but a high complication rate, requiring further research to assess its value as a primary surgical procedure.

Two-Year Clinical and Radiographic Evaluation of Scheker Prosthesis (Aptis) Distal Radioulnar Joint Arthroplasty

Patrick Shea Brannan et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical and radiographic outcomes of patients who underwent semiconstrained distal radioulnar joint arthroplasty. The surgery demonstrated good patient pain scores and restoration of supination strength, but there was a moderate complication rate. Accurate radial component placement is important.

Postoperative assessment and management of metallosis and periprosthetic osteolysis in patients treated with metal-on-polyethylene total wrist prostheses

Gregorio Martinez Villen et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the relationship between serum metal ions, radiological periprosthetic osteolysis, and clinical features in patients with fourth-generation metal-on-polyethylene total wrist prostheses. The results showed that titanium was the main elevated serum metal ion, while elevated serum cobalt or chromium values were less common. The risk of loosening was higher in implants older than 6 years, with more than five periprosthetic osteolysis points, and serum titanium values between 26 to 31 μg/L. The presence of metallosis pseudotumors increased the risk of implant failure, which could be asymptomatic or associated with mild pain.

The contribution of the histopathological examination to the diagnosis of adverse local tissue reactions in arthroplasty

Giorgio Perino et al.

Summary: The histopathological examination of periprosthetic soft tissue and bone has helped identify and describe the morphological features of ALTR/ARMD. A uniform vocabulary and clarification of classification parameters are considered essential for meaningful interdisciplinary evaluation.

Comparison of the long-term cause of failure and survivorship of four hundred and twenty seven metal-on-metal hip arthroplasties: resurfacing versus large head total hip arthroplasty

Michele Palazzuolo et al.

Summary: This study compared the failure causes and survivorship of metal-on-metal (MoM) resurfacing hip arthroplasty (RHA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA) over a minimum follow-up period of ten years. Results showed that RHA had significantly higher survivorship compared to THA, with THA having a higher rate of adverse reaction to metal debris failure. Ion levels and Co/Cr ratio were also significantly higher in THA.
