Assessment of external calibration, internal standard calibration and quadruple isotope dilution strategies for the determination of acrylamide in wastewater samples after LC-MS/MS quantification

Elif Yazici et al.

Summary: Acrylamide, a potentially neurotoxic and carcinogenic compound, is commonly found in environmental bodies due to industrial usage. This study compared different calibration strategies and proposed a highly accurate and precise method, LC-ID4-MS/MS, to quantify acrylamide in wastewater samples. The ID4 strategy showed superior accuracy and precision compared to EC and ISC methods.

The analysis of efficiency of activated peroxymonosulfate for fenuron degradation in water

Waseem Hayat et al.

Summary: This study focused on the degradation of fenuron in aqueous solutions using a manganese dioxide-peroxymonosulfate system. It compared the performance of different types of manganese dioxide, namely commercial (c)MnO2, beta (b)MnO2, and alpha (a)MnO2, in combination with peroxymonosulfate. The results showed that the aMnO2-PMS system had the highest degradation efficiency for fenuron, followed by the bMnO2-PMS system and cMnO2-PMS system. The study also explored the factors affecting the degradation, including PMS and fenuron concentrations, MnO2 dosage, pH, and temperature. The findings suggest that the activated PMS system is not ideal for efficient degradation of fenuron from aqueous solutions.

A new method for the evaluation of measurement uncertainty in strict accordance with measurement model: Determination of total thyroxine in human serum by triple isotope dilution mass spectrometry

Man Liang et al.

Summary: The rigorous evaluation of uncertainty is crucial for reliable results in reference measurement procedures. This study proposes a new uncertainty budget for evaluating the uncertainty of total thyroxine in human serum using isotope dilution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. A measurement model for uncertainty evaluation of triple isotope dilution-mass spectrometry was established, and the propagation of uncertainties in input quantities was strictly followed. The detailed uncertainty evaluation process for a specific serum is described, including the estimation of input quantities and determination of combined standard uncertainty. The expanded uncertainty of the specific human serum (at a coverage probability of 95%) was determined to be 4.8 nmol/L at a concentration level of 113.6 nmol/L.
