The effects of Nigella sativa on anthropometric indices: A GRADE-assessed systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of controlled trials

Mahdi Vajdi et al.

Summary: This study systematically summarized the effects of N. sativa supplementation on anthropometric indices among adults. A total of 32 studies were included in the analysis, showing significant reductions in body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, and hip circumference following N. sativa supplementation. However, no changes were observed in waist-to-hip ratio.

The effects of purslane consumption on glycemic control and oxidative stress: A systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis

Naser Jafari et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effect of purslane on glycemic profile and oxidative stress markers in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients. The results showed that purslane consumption significantly reduced fasting blood sugar and oxidative stress while not affecting HbA1c and insulin resistance. It suggests that purslane could be a promising adjuvant therapy for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Purslane-induced oxalate nephropathy: case report and literature review

Xiangtuo Wang et al.

Summary: The kidney is vulnerable to toxins, especially calcium phosphate and calcium oxalate-induced nephropathies. Hyperoxaluria, which can lead to kidney stones and progressive kidney disease, can be primary or secondary. This report discusses the pathogenesis of hyperoxaluria and presents two cases of oxalate nephropathy caused by purslane ingestion.
