Study on the Mechanism of Astragalus Polysaccharide in Treating Pulmonary Fibrosis Based on Drug-Target-Pathway Network

Pingping Bing et al.

Summary: Pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic, progressive, and irreversible disease of the pulmonary interstitial tissue. Astragalus polysaccharides have the pharmacological effect of anti-pulmonary fibrosis with little toxic and side effects. This study analyzed the mechanism of Astragalus polysaccharides in treating pulmonary fibrosis through network pharmacology and molecular docking, providing a theoretical basis for its future clinical application. Astragalus polysaccharides have multiple targets and pathways and may regulate the expression of various genes during the development of pulmonary fibrosis.

Emerging cellular and molecular determinants of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Thi Hang Giang Phan et al.

Summary: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive, irreversible, and typically lethal lung disease with poorly understood mechanisms, involving various cellular processes and molecular pathways. Apoptosis, senescence, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and other processes have been identified as key factors in tissue remodeling associated with IPF.

The NRF2-LOC344887 signaling axis suppresses pulmonary fibrosis

Pengfei Liu et al.

Summary: This study identifies long noncoding RNA LOC344887 as a novel anti-fibrotic NRF2 target gene which contributes to the antifibrotic potential of NRF2 activator sulforaphane (SFN). LOC344887 controls genes and signaling pathways associated with fibrogenesis, repressing the expression of CDH2 and other fibrotic genes. NRF2-mediated LOC344887 upregulation presents a novel therapeutic axis for prevention and intervention of fibrosis-related diseases.

The characteristics and evolution of pulmonary fibrosis in COVID-19 patients as assessed by AI-assisted chest HRCT

Jia-Ni Zou et al.

Summary: The study using AI-assisted chest HRCT revealed the incidence, characteristics, risk factors, and evolution of pulmonary fibrosis in patients with COVID-19. Patients with severe or critical COVID-19 had a higher risk of pulmonary fibrosis, but with time, most patients showed improvement or resolution of pulmonary fibrosis.

Sex-Related Differences in Murine Models of Chemically Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis

Pavel Solopov et al.

Summary: In mouse models of chemically induced chronic lung injury and pulmonary fibrosis, female mice exhibited higher survival rates, less weight loss, lower levels of white blood cells and total protein content, less collagen deposition, milder pulmonary fibrosis, and lower Ashcroft scores compared to male mice. Females also showed reduced activation of transforming growth factor-beta and downstream signaling pathways, suggesting a protective mechanism against chronic complications of lung injury.

Bufei huoxue capsules in the management of convalescent COVID-19 infection: study protocol for a multicenter, double-blind, and randomized controlled trial

Yuqin Chen et al.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Bufei Huoxue (BFHX) capsules for convalescent COVID-19 patients. It is a multicenter, double-blinded, randomized, controlled trial with primary efficacy indicators including the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire score, Fatigue Assessment Inventory, and 6-min walk distance.
