Drug-polysaccharide/herb interactions and compatibility rationality of Sijunzi decoction based on comprehensive pharmacokinetic screening for multi-components in rats with spleen deficiency syndrome

Bangjian Dong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the pharmacokinetic characteristics of Sijunzi decoction in normal and SDS rats, as well as explores the potential interactions between NPSs and polysaccharides in Sijunzi decoction. The study also examines the rationality of the compatibility of the four herbs in Sijunzi decoction. The findings provide valuable insights into the pharmacodynamic material basis and action mechanism of Sijunzi decoction, as well as offer a valuable strategy for TCM formulae research.

Herb-drug interaction of Xingnaojing injection and Edaravone via pharmacokinetics, mixed inhibition of UGTs, and molecular docking

Dongli Qi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pharmacokinetics and potential mechanism of herb-drug interactions (HDIs) between XNJ and EDA. The findings showed that (-)-borneol in XNJ mainly exerted UGTs inhibition, with moderate inhibition on UGT2B7 and UGT1A6. The inhibitory effect of XNJ on UGTs and the increased blood concentration of injection should be highly emphasized.

Pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of 12 major active components in normal and chronic gastritis rats after oral administration of Weikangling capsules

Feng Liu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the pharmacokinetic characteristics and tissue distribution differences of the major active components in Weikangling Capsules (WKLCs) under physiological and pathological conditions. The results showed significant pharmacokinetic characteristics and tissue distribution differences of the major active components in normal and chronic gastritis rats. These findings provide a solid foundation for revealing the pharmacodynamic material basis of WKLCs in treating gastrointestinal disorders.

Tissue distribution and integrated pharmacokinetic properties of major effective constituents of oral Gegen-Qinlian decoction in mice

Jing-Ze Lu et al.

Summary: A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was developed and applied to analyze the distribution and pharmacokinetic properties of oral GQD in mice. The results showed that different constituents of GQD had different concentrations in the liver and colon, indicating their potential efficacy in treating liver and colon-related diseases. Furthermore, the study revealed the pharmacokinetic properties of GQD as a whole, including its accumulation in the colon.

Herb-drug interaction in the protective effect of Alpinia officinarum against gastric injury induced by indomethacin based on pharmacokinetic, tissue distribution and excretion studies in rats

Xuguang Zhang et al.

Summary: Alpinia officinarum alters the pharmacokinetic parameters of indomethacin, reducing its systemic exposure and increasing elimination. Co-administration of A. officinarum does not reduce indomethacin accumulation in target tissues, but accelerates excretion of indomethacin and its metabolites. This suggests that A. officinarum may have a gastrointestinal protective effect through interactions with indomethacin in rats.

Label-free mass spectrometry-based proteomics for investigating the therapeutic mechanism of Sijunzi decoction on spleen deficiency syndrome

Qinghua Yan et al.

Summary: Sijunzi decoction, a classic prescription in traditional Chinese medicine, was found to restore damaged liver tissue and enzymatic activities, mainly regulating metabolic processes and being closely related to bile secretion, pyruvate metabolism, cysteine and methionine metabolism, and fatty acid metabolism pathways in the intervention of spleen deficiency syndrome. Prominent proteins like H2afx, ISG15, and STAT1 were predicted to play important roles in the action networks of Sijunzi decoction. This study offers novel perspectives for understanding the therapeutic mechanisms of Sijunzi decoction on spleen deficiency syndrome.

Differential effect of polysaccharide and nonpolysaccharide components in Sijunzi decoction on spleen deficiency syndrome and their mechanisms

Ping Ma et al.

Summary: The study revealed that Sijunzi decoction (SJZD) has a stronger therapeutic effect on intestinal immune and GI hormone secretion in SDS rats, while the effectiveness of NPS and S-3 showed slight differences. NPS mainly regulates GI hormone secretion and directly improves intestinal immunity, whereas S-3 enhances intestinal immunity by increasing T lymphocyte cell expression and repairing the intestinal barrier directly and indirectly. Additionally, the modulation effect of the gut microbiota plays a crucial role in the treatment of SDS with SJZD, NPS, and S-3.

An integrated strategy of MS-network-based offline 2DLC-QTOF-MS/MS coupled with UHPLC-QTRAP®-MS/MS for the characterization and quantification of the non-polysaccharides in Sijunzi decoction

Bangjian Dong et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively analyzed the non-polysaccharide components of Sijunzi decoction using advanced techniques, identifying 449 components, including potentially novel substances. By establishing an MS-network of SJZD and quantifying 19 representative components using UHPLC-QTRAP®-MS/MS, the pharmacological effects and action mechanism of SJZD were further understood.
