Design and evaluation of energy-saving total distillation separation of N, N-Dimethylacetamide/acetic acid/water

Nan Hu et al.

Summary: This study proposes three methods, including extractive pressure swing distillation, azeotropic-pressure swing distillation, and azeotropic-extractive distillation, to separate DMA-HAc-water ternary mixtures. The heat integration enhancement configuration is also completed, and the results indicate that the heat-integrated azeotropic-extractive distillation (HIAED) process has more significant industrial application potential.

A comparative study on characteristics and leaching toxicity of fluidized bed and grate furnace MSWI fly ash

Chengcheng Fan et al.

Summary: Fluidized bed and grate furnace are commonly used technologies in municipal solid waste incineration, with MSWI fly ash consisting of calcium and chlorine salts, showing potential pozzolanic activity. Grate furnace MSWI fly ash contains higher levels of heavy metals and chlorides, posing greater environmental risks.

Summary: A quick and sensitive analytical method for estimation of dithiocarbamate residues in spices has been optimized and validated. The method offers high recovery, low limit of quantification and is not interfered by essential oils in spices. It can be used for evaluation of compliance of real samples against the maximum residue limits and safety assessment for human consumption.

Utilisation of municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) fl y ash with metakaolin for preparation of alkali-activated cementitious material

Summary: The application of alkali-activation technology to prepare alkali-activated MSWIFA material holds potential to immobilize heavy metals and enhance its pozzolanic property for manufacturing building material. Adding metakaolin in AAFA significantly improves compressive strength, with the addition of sodium silicate increasing strength further. AAFA and AAFM successfully suppress leaching behaviors of certain metals to meet Chinese standards.
