Carthamus tinctorius L., as an Anti-virulence Intervention Against Methicillin Resistance Staphylococcus aureus

Ahmed A. Abdulhaq

Summary: The hydroalcoholic extract of Carthamus tinctorius L. demonstrates antibacterial activity against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) by reducing biofilm formation, hemolytic activity, and staphyloxanthin production. It also modulates the expression of related genes, making it a potential alternative to antibiotic treatment.

Enhanced Anticancer Performance of Eco-Friendly-Prepared Mo-ZnO/RGO Nanocomposites: Role of Oxidative Stress and Apoptosis

Maqusood Ahamed et al.

Summary: This study prepared pure ZnO nanoparticles, Mo-doped ZnO nanoparticles, and Mo-ZnO/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites using a green and easy method with date palm fruit extract. The green synthesized Mo-ZnO/RGO nanocomposites exhibited enhanced anticancer activity and improved cytocompatibility compared to pure ZnO nanoparticles. The potential anticancer mechanism of Mo-ZnO/RGO nanocomposites was explored through oxidative stress and apoptosis. The findings suggest the potential of fruit-based facile preparation of ZnO-based nanocomposites for cancer therapy.

Bi-continuous positively-charged PVDF membranes formed by a dual-bath procedure with bacteria killing/release ability

Antoine Venault et al.

Summary: This study reported the synthesis of a unique positively-charged copolymer, which was mixed with poly(vinylidene fluoride) to form porous membranes capable of killing bacteria upon contact. The study found that the copolymer content influenced the membrane pore structure and hydration capacity, while the surface charge of the membrane increased with the copolymer content.

Synthesis and characterization of Au:ZnO (core:shell) nanoparticles via laser ablation

Taha M. Rashid et al.

Summary: In this study, Gold:Zinc Oxide (Au:ZnO) core:shell nanoparticles were synthesized using Laser Ablation technique at different laser pulses energy, and their properties were analyzed through various methods. The results showed that the particle size increased with energy and the ZnO shell on the surface of gold nanoparticles significantly affected their absorption properties.

Efficacy Assessment of Biosynthesized Copper Oxide Nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) on Stored Grain Insects and Their Impacts on Morphological and Physiological Traits of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Plant

Ali A. Badawy et al.

Summary: In this study, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) were successfully synthesized using metabolites of Aspergillus niger strain (G3-1). The CuO-NPs exhibited insecticidal activity against wheat grain insects and beneficial effects on wheat plant growth without toxicity. The study suggests that the use of CuO-NPs is a promising approach for pest control and enhancing crop performance.
