Prevalence of temporomandibular joint disorders: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the prevalence of temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJD) among the general population. The overall prevalence of TMJD was approximately 31% for adults/elderly and 11% for children/adolescents, with the most prevalent TMJD being disc displacement with reduction (DDwR). Knowledge about the frequency of TMJD can encourage dentists to consider appropriate strategies for early and correct diagnosis and management.

Scoping review: Facilitators and barriers in the adoption of teledentistry among older adults

Summary: This scoping review aimed to summarize the applications and key factors associated with the adoption of teledentistry among older adults. Teleconsultation and telediagnosis were the most reported applications, with policy-level factors such as data privacy issues and regulations, community-level factors like availability of resources and support, and organizational-level factors like familiar care settings and effective administration playing important roles in the adoption of teledentistry among older adults.

Consideration of legal and ethical issues is crucial when using remote methods for diagnosing and treating chronic orofacial pain patients.
