Selection of Novel Reference Genes by RNA-Seq and Their Evaluation for Normalising Real-Time qPCR Expression Data of Anthocyanin-Related Genes in Lettuce and Wild Relatives

Ines Medina-Lozano et al.

Summary: In this study, six candidate reference genes (ADF2, CYB5, iPGAM, SCL13, TRXL3-3, and VHA-H) with low expression variation were selected for gene expression studies. Their stability was evaluated using qPCR and various analytical tools, and CYB5 was found to be the most stable gene in the leaf colour experiment, while TRXL3-3 was the most stable gene in the tissue and drought stress experiments. These findings provide valuable information for gene expression studies in Lactuca spp. under the specified conditions.

Application of Bifidobacterium spp in beverages and dairy food products: an overview of survival during refrigerated storage

Amal Bakr Shori

Summary: The food industry has developed various food and beverage products that contain probiotic strains, which should remain stable during processing and storage. Bifidobacteria are commonly found in the colon of humans and animals and have significant health benefits. Adding bifidobacteria has been shown to enhance the therapeutic value of food and beverage products. This study aims to review the applications of Bifidobacterium spp in beverages and dairy food products and the impact of different food matrices on their survival during storage.
