Study on the Relationship between Accelerated Aging, Color Characterization and Properties of Natural Fibers

Hongyu Jiang et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the quality changes of cotton, kenaf, and wool fibers using laboratory accelerated aging methods, revealing that thermal aging reduced the mechanical properties of cotton and kenaf fibers, while UV aging had a more pronounced impact on wool fibers.

Laser ablation treatment of soiled featherworks: The first validation study

Daniele Ciofini et al.

Summary: This study tested two different types of lasers for cleaning a heavily soiled feathered cloak and determined the optimal laser treatment method. The results showed that laser cleaning had high selectivity and could effectively remove dirt without damaging the microstructure. Based on the findings, a laser-based dry cleaning method was proposed and successfully applied to restore the cloak.

Quantifying the 'press and peel' removal of particulates using elastomers and gels

Teresa T. Duncan et al.

Summary: The study quantified the cleaning efficacy of different materials and found that reducing the stiffness of the material can enhance the cleaning effectiveness, while repeated cleaning with pristine material at the same spot can further remove soil particles.
