Direct growth of InSb nanowires on CdTe (001) substrates by molecular beam epitaxy

Zon et al.

Summary: The molecular beam epitaxial growth of InSb on CdTe (001) substrates resulted in elongated wire morphology, with the formation of nanowires along the [110] direction of the substrate. The compressive strain in the InSb epilayer was found to be a possible origin of nanowire formation, characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. The optical properties of lateral nanowires on CdTe were investigated using photoluminescence measurements, showing potential applications in optoelectronic devices.

Polarization anisotropy in nanowires: Fundamental concepts and progress towards terahertz-band polarization devices

Michael B. Johnston et al.

Summary: This article discusses the physical origins and experimental observations of polarization anisotropy in semiconductor nanowires, and how these phenomena are utilized in devices for detecting and modulating terahertz radiation. These novel terahertz devices are expected to find applications in various fields, including high-speed terahertz communications and molecular fingerprinting.
