Strengthening stone beams with prefabricated polymer-reinforced stone plates

Yong Ye et al.

Summary: This study proposes a technique using prefabricated stone plates to reinforce stone beams, which improves their flexural performance while maintaining the original appearance. Experimental results show that the prefabricated plates shift the failure mode of the stone beams, increasing their load-carrying and deformation capacities. The prefabricated plates also exhibit good bond characteristics and effective composite action with the stone beams.

Strengthening effect of prestressed near-surface mounted CFRP bar system according to material properties of aged reinforced concrete beams

Sanghyeon Cho et al.

Summary: The experimental investigation found that the near-surface mounted carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (NSM CFRP) bar system can significantly improve the flexural performance of age-deteriorated reinforced concrete (RC) beams, with ultimate strengths up to twice that of the un-strengthened beams. The strengthening effect is closely related to the material properties of the RC beams.

Experimental and analytical investigation on flexural behaviour of RC beams strengthened with NSM CFRP prestressed concrete prisms

Yu Deng et al.

Summary: The study found that RC beams strengthened with NSM CFRP-PCPs have higher flexural capacity compared to unstrengthened beams, and increasing the prestress level of the CFRP-PCPs can enhance crack resistance and load capacity. Beams strengthened with CFRP-PCPs made with UHPC showed better performance than those with epoxy resin mortar.

Flexural behavior of reinforced concrete T-section beams strengthened by NSM FRP bars

Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the behavior of RC T-section beams strengthened with NSM FRP bars and compares the experimental results with predictions of a flexural model. The results show a general increase in flexural stiffness of the strengthened beams, especially at the post yield stage of loading.
