Detailed crack-based assessment of a 4-m deep beam test specimen

Alexandru N. Trandafir et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a crack-based assessment approach for determining the safety of lightly reinforced concrete deep beams. Three levels of approximation are presented and compared with experimental data, showing the effectiveness of the assessment method. The paper also explores the size effect in shear for deep beams.

Detailed crack-based assessment of a 4-m deep beam test specimen

Alexandru N. Trandafir et al.

Summary: This paper presents a crack-based assessment approach for evaluating lightly reinforced concrete deep beams using the Two-Parameter Kinematic Theory (2PKT). Three assessment approaches of increasing approximation levels are proposed and compared with experimental data. The size effect in shear for deep beams is also studied using the most detailed approach.

Structural behavior of FRCC layered deep beams reinforced with GFRP headed-end bars

Ahmed Bediwy et al.

Summary: The incorporation of basalt fiber pellets or steel fibers in the tie zone of deep beams improved their behavior, including ductility and load carrying capacity. The provisions for strut-and-tie model in the Canadian codes for FRPRC structures and the American code for steel-RC structures provided reasonable predictions for load capacity of deep beams.
