Defect enhanced CoMnNiOx catalysts derived from spent ternary lithium-ion batteries for low-temperature propane oxidation

Ganggang Li et al.

Summary: A feasible strategy was reported to develop efficient CoMnNiOx catalysts for propane oxidation using waste ternary lithium-ion batteries (TLIBs) as precursors. The defect enhanced-CoMnNiOx catalyst showed a low activation temperature for propane oxidation, which was achieved by increasing oxygen vacancy defects. Additionally, the defect enhancement improved the reducibility, acidity, and lattice oxygen mobility of the catalyst, thereby enhancing the catalytic activity. This study is of great significance for the development of green and efficient catalysts for VOCs oxidation.

Boosting nitrate electroreduction to ammonia on NbOxvia constructing oxygen vacancies

Xuefei Wan et al.

Summary: The first work on nitrate electroreduction to NH3 over Nb oxides was conducted using NbOx with oxygen vacancies (OVs). It was found that NbOx is a robust non-precious metal catalyst for NH3 synthesis, achieving a faradaic efficiency of 94.5% and an NH3 formation rate of 55.0 μg h(-1) mg(cat)(-1) in a neutral electrolyte. The excellent performance of NbOx is attributed to the intrinsic properties of Nb oxides and the presence of OVs in the catalyst.

Desulfurization mechanism of an excellent Cu/ZnO sorbent for ultra-deep removal of thiophene in simulated coke oven gas

Fanjing Wei et al.

Summary: The reactive adsorption desulfurization mechanism of thiophene over Cu/ZnO sorbent in coke oven gas (COG) was established by combining theoretical and experimental studies. The study found that Cu-0 nanoparticles in the sorbent play important roles in hydrogen adsorption and dissociation as well as cleaving the C-S bond of thiophene. ZnO in the sorbent acts as an excellent sulfur acceptor and greatly affects the adsorption properties by enhancing the spillover and storage of hydrogen atoms. Enhancing the interaction between Cu0 nanoparticles and ZnO is an effective way to improve the thiophene reactive adsorption activity of Cu/ZnO.
