Photoinduced Enhancement of Uranium Extraction from Seawater by MOF/Black Phosphorus Quantum Dots Heterojunction Anchored on Cellulose Nanofiber Aerogel

Mengwei Chen et al.

Summary: The BP@CNF-MOF high-efficiency uranium adsorbents are fabricated by anchoring UiO-66-NH2/black phosphorus quantum dots heterojunctions on carboxyl cellulose nanofiber aerogel. The adsorbents demonstrate good mechanical flexibility and enhanced adsorption efficiency under light irradiation due to the excellent heterogeneous photocatalytic activity of MOF/BPQDs. The strategy could potentially be applied to enhance adsorption efficiency of other superior MOF crystals as well.

Preparation of amidoxime modified porous organic polymer flowers for selective uranium recovery from seawater

Mudasir Ahmad et al.

Summary: The study focused on the synthesis of amidoxime modified porous organic polymer flower-like structure (POP-AOF) adsorbent for efficient uranium(VI) removal from seawater and simulated solutions. POP-AOF showed great potential in energy and environmental applications due to its high functionality, high selectivity, and multistep kinetics controlled by secondary building units. Coordination with uranium(VI) in seawater was achieved through amidoxime groups acting as bidentate ligands, indicating the promise of acrylonitrile and amidoxime chemistry in developing new adsorbents for uranium(VI) removal.

Selective removal of As(V) from wastewater with high efficiency by glycine-modified Fe/Zn-layered double hydroxides

Chongzhi Yin et al.

Summary: The study focuses on improving the adsorption effect and selectivity of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) for oxyanions by preparing glycine-modified Fe/Zn-LDH (GFeZn). The GFe(1)Zn(1) with a Fe/Zn mole ratio of 1:1 achieved excellent selectivity for As(V), with a saturated adsorption capacity of 859.52 mg/g and an adsorption equilibrium established between 60 and 120 minutes. The GFe(1)Zn(1) also showed excellent reusability with only a 13.30% decrease in adsorption capacity after 5 adsorption/desorption cycles, providing a new method for selectively removing As(V) from polluted water.
