The promotion role of different crystal phase MnO2 in iron-based Fischer-Tropsch catalysts

Yifan Yin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the promotion effects of different crystal phase manganese oxide additives on iron-based Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) catalysts. It is discovered that different crystal phase manganese oxide additives have distinct impacts on the structure evolution and catalytic performances of the catalysts. Alpha- and delta-MnO2 modification enhances the formation of iron carbides and improves the selectivity of linear high carbon alpha-olefins and heavy hydrocarbons. On the other hand, beta- and gamma-MnO2 modification increases the catalytic activity but suppresses the formation of olefins and long chain hydrocarbons.

Core-shell Ppy@N-doped porous carbon nanofiber-based electrodes for high-property supercapacitors

Lulu Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, core-shell supercapacitor electrodes with high performance were prepared using electrospinning, carbonation, nitrogen-doping, and chemical polymerization. The optimized parameters for the morphologies, structures, and electrochemical performance of the products were obtained by characterizing the effects of pore-forming agent content, N-doped amount, and polymerization temperature. The core-shell composite exhibited a high specific capacitance of 342.13 F g-1 at 1 A g-1, with only 4.6% attenuation after 1000 cycles, indicating excellent charge storage performance and cycle stability. Furthermore, a symmetrical supercapacitor fabricated with the best electrode demonstrated an energy density of 3.10 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 50 W kg-1, highlighting the potential of this method for developing multifunctional electrode materials for supercapacitors.

Soybean meal-derived heteroatoms-doped porous carbons for supercapacitor electrodes

Jianguo Tang et al.

Summary: In this study, N, O co-doped hierarchical porous carbons (HPCs) were fabricated directly from soybean meal through the molten salt method. The resulting HPCs exhibited a well-developed 3D hierarchical porous structure with a high specific surface area, facilitating ion storage and transmission. By incorporating abundant heteroatoms into the carbon materials, additional pseudocapacitance was achieved. The HPC-3 electrode demonstrated a maximum specific capacitance of 507 F g-1 in 1 M H2SO4 electrolyte and the supercapacitor cell assembled from HPC-3 electrodes exhibited a relatively high energy density of 12.4 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 50 W kg-1. This research highlights the potential application of KHCO3 as a pore-forming agent and the obtained high-performance electrode material for supercapacitors.
