Optimizing electronic structure of porous Ni/MoO2 heterostructure to boost alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction

Jin Li et al.

Summary: In this work, Ni/MoO2 heterojunction nanorods with a porous structure were fabricated using heterostructure engineering. The optimal electrocatalyst Ni/MoO2@NF-E showed excellent electrocatalytic activity and stability for the hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution. The enhanced performance can be attributed to the porous structure, moderate Gibbs free energy of hydrogen adsorption, and synergistic effect between Ni and MoO2.

In-situ synthesis of NiS2 nanoparticles/MoS2 nanosheets hierarchical sphere anchored on reduced graphene oxide for enhanced electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction

Sayyar Ali Shah et al.

Summary: In this study, a hydrothermal method was used to synthesize NiS2 nanoparticles/MoS2 nanosheets composite anchored on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) for enhanced electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) during water splitting. The NiS2/MoS2/RGO composite exhibited improved HER activity compared to MoS2/RGO and NiS2/RGO. The synergistic effect between NiS2 nanoparticles and MoS2 nanosheets, along with the conductivity provided by RGO, contributed to the enhanced HER performance. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations confirmed the efficient HER activity of NiS2/MoS2/RGO, justified by lower Gibbs free energy and lower work function.

The Relative Contributions of Temperature and Moisture to Heat Stress Changes under Warming

Nicholas J. Lutsko

Summary: Increases in the severity of heat stress extremes are potentially one of the most impactful consequences of climate change, affecting human comfort, productivity, health, and mortality in many places on Earth. The study found that understanding regional changes in specific humidity is largely sufficient for understanding regional changes in heat stress, with the pattern of specific humidity changes driving the regional pattern of theta(E) changes.
