Path to sustainable energy consumption: The possibility of substituting renewable energy for non-renewable energy

Bello Mufutau Opeyemi

Summary: Globally, the energy consumption is dominated by fossil fuels, but there is a need to reduce the share of non-renewable energy and increase that of renewables for environmental safety and resource sustainability. Nigeria has a significant proportion of non-renewable energy consumption, with potential for developing renewable energy. The study suggests that the government should design and invest in integrated renewable energy planning to maximize the potential of renewable energy resources.
