Developing a new chance constrained NDEA model to measure performance of sustainable supply chains

Mohammad Izadikhah et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a practical technique, network data envelopment analysis (NDEA), for assessing the performance of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). A new NDEA model is proposed to evaluate the efficiency of SSCM under uncertain conditions. The efficacy of the proposed method is demonstrated through a case study in the soft drinks industry.

Scrutinizing blockchain applicability in sustainable supply chains through an integrated fuzzy multi-criteria decision making framework

Ismail Erol et al.

Summary: Sustainability has become increasingly important in constructing resilient supply chains. Customers' demand for sustainable products has put pressure on manufacturers and suppliers to become more sustainable globally. Decision-makers are interested in applying disruptive technologies like blockchain to address societal, environmental, and economic concerns. However, existing research lacks a quantitative examination of the critical functions of sustainable supply chains (SSCs) for blockchain applicability. This study investigates the most feasible functions of SSCs for potential blockchain implementations and suggests that sourcing, delivery, transformation, and product recovery are the most appropriate functions. This research provides valuable insights for decision-makers on where blockchain can create additional value in SSCs.

Designing an optimal sustainable supply chain system considering pricing decisions and resilience factors

Ata Allah Taleizadeh et al.

Summary: This study optimizes the sustainable supply chain through bi-level programming, considering resilience factors and pricing decisions. It proposes that the government can influence environmental and social responsibility by setting an emissions tax rate. The results suggest that the centralized model provides a better solution, and maintaining emergency stock is recommended when mitigating the adverse effects of disruptions.

Blockchain as a sustainability-oriented innovation?: Opportunities for and resistance to Blockchain technology as a driver of sustainability in global food supply chains

Nicola Friedman et al.

Summary: Blockchain technology is seen as both a tool for sustainability and a broader philosophical mindset in global food supply chains. It has the potential to ensure fairer supply chains, enhance food traceability, and drive environmental sustainability. However, there are functional and psychological barriers, as well as cooperative barriers and resistance to change, hindering its potential as a sustainability-oriented innovation.

Assessing data-driven sustainable supply chain management indicators for the textile industry under industrial disruption and ambidexterity

Ming-Lang Tseng et al.

Summary: This study contributes to the development of data-driven sustainable supply chain management indicators under industrial disruption and ambidexterity. It proposes a hybrid method to generate indicators and uses the fuzzy Delphi method for validation. The results highlight the importance of financial vulnerability, supply chain uncertainty, risk assessment, and resilience in ensuring the effectiveness of supply chain management under industrial disruption and ambidexterity.

Effects of sustainable supply chain integration on green innovation and firm performance

Muhammad Junaid et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of sustainable supply chain integration on green innovation and firm performance. The findings suggest that sustainable internal, supplier, and customer integration foster both green managerial and process innovations. Green managerial innovation has a significant positive impact on financial performance, while green process innovation has a negative impact.

Achieving sustainability in food manufacturing operations and their supply chains: Key insights from a systematic literature review

David Adams et al.

Summary: Managing sustainability in the food supply chain is crucial due to the significant environmental and social impacts of the global food industry. A thematic analysis identified eight key sustainability themes in the literature regarding how food manufacturing companies implement sustainability practices. There is a substantial research gap regarding the role of SMEs and food logistics in sustainable supply chain management, while multinational companies play a critical role in supporting supply chain practices.
