Two-dimensional liquid chromatography approaches for food authenticity

Lidia Montero et al.

Summary: The use of two-dimensional liquid chromatography (2DLC) has been expanding in the field of food analysis in recent years. 2DLC methods provide higher resolving power than conventional one-dimensional approaches, allowing for separation of a greater number of components in complex food samples. This makes it a useful tool for food authentication based on chemical, biological, or geographical characteristics. This review summarizes and describes the recent advancements in the use of 2DLC in various operating modes for food authentication, and critically discusses the main advantages and future outlooks.
