Scalar Breit interaction for molecular calculations

Shichao Sun et al.

Summary: In this work, scalar Hamiltonians derived from the Dirac-Coulomb-Gaunt and Dirac-Coulomb-Breit operators are introduced based on spin separation in the Pauli quaternion basis for the first time. Benchmark calculations show that the scalar Dirac-Coulomb-Breit Hamiltonian can capture 99.99% of the total energy with only 10% of the computational cost when real-valued arithmetic is used, compared to the full Dirac-Coulomb-Breit Hamiltonian. The scalar relativistic formulation developed in this work lays the theoretical foundation for the development of high-accuracy, low-cost correlated variational relativistic many-body theory.

Efficient evaluation of the Breit operator in the Pauli spinor basis

Shichao Sun et al.

Summary: The article introduces an improved computational method for dealing with the Coulomb-Breit operator in the treatment of two-electron interaction in molecular systems. By applying the Pauli component integral-density matrix contraction scheme and two different computational algorithms, the efficiency of relativistic calculations is improved, and the relativistic effects in the Periodic Table and heavy-element complexes are analyzed.

Toward the Minimal Floating Operation Count Cholesky Decomposition of Electron Repulsion Integrals

Tianyuan Zhang et al.

Summary: As quantum chemistry calculations deal with larger molecular systems, the memory requirement for electron-repulsion integrals exceeds available physical memory. Cholesky decomposition reduces the storage requirement of integrals, with recent two-step algorithms drastically reducing memory operation count.

Efficient Four-Component Dirac-Coulomb-Gaunt Hartree-Fock in the Pauli Spinor Representation

Shichao Sun et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new method for calculating relativistic effects that allows for more accurate predictions of molecular spectroscopy and properties with lower computational complexity. The method enables the separation of different spin physics and can be used to investigate relativistic trends in heavy elements and analyze basis set dependence in systems such as atomic gold and gold dimer.
