Systemic inflammation score as a preoperative prognostic factor for patients with pT2-T4 resectable gastric cancer: a retrospective study

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of systemic inflammation score (SIS) in patients with pT2-4 resectable gastric cancer (GC). The results showed that higher SIS score was associated with undifferentiated cancer and recurrence. SIS was also found to be an independent prognostic factor for relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) in these patients.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the potential of the Systemic Inflammatory Response Index (SIRI) as a prognostic factor in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients treated with intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) immunotherapy. The results showed that high SIRI was significantly correlated with non-response to BCG therapy and shorter recurrence-free survival and progression-free survival. The combination of SIRI and T stage demonstrated robust performance in predicting the response to BCG immunotherapy in NMIBC patients.

Prognostic value of soluble PD-L1 and exosomal PD-L1 in advanced gastric cancer patients receiving systemic chemotherapy

Summary: The study investigated the prognostic significance of soluble PD-L1 (sPD-L1) and exosomal PD-L1 (exoPD-L1) in patients with gastric cancer receiving chemotherapy. It was found that low levels of sPD-L1 and exoPD-L1 were associated with better overall survival and progression-free survival. Pretreatment sPD-L1 could be used as an independent prognostic factor for overall survival, while exoPD-L1 may reflect the immunosuppressive state of patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic significance of biomarkers of the systemic inflammatory response in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving first-line pembrolizumab. The results showed that albumin and neutrophil count were independently associated with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). A simple score combining these biomarkers, called Scottish Inflammatory Prognostic Score (SIPS), was developed and found to predict survival in NSCLC patients. SIPS can stratify survival and assist clinicians and patients with treatment decisions.
