In-Silico Lead Druggable Compounds Identification against SARS COVID-19 Main Protease Target from In-House, Chembridge and Zinc Databases by Structure-Based Virtual Screening, Molecular Docking and Molecular Dynamics Simulations

Mehreen Ghufran et al.

Summary: During the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, researchers extensively studied pharmacological strategies to decrease the viral load in severe patients. The M-pro protease, which is essential for viral replication, has been identified as a potential therapeutic target. To prevent further spread of the pandemic, scientists are actively searching for more efficient inhibitors against SARS-CoV-2.

In-silico evaluations of the isolated phytosterols from polygonum hydropiper L against BACE1 and MAO drug targets

Muhammad Ayaz et al.

Summary: Our previous studies on Polygonum hydropiper L extracts, essential oils, and isolated compounds, including β-sitosterol, led us to further investigate the inhibitory potential of these compounds against BACE1 and MAO-A/B enzymes. Molecular docking studies were conducted to predict the binding modes of β-sitosterol and stigmasterol in the active sites of BACE1 and MAO enzymes. The results showed that β-sitosterol had better interactions with BACE1 compared to MAO-A/B, indicating its potential as a BACE1 inhibitor.

Summary: This study presents a model of the association between dementia symptoms and degenerative brain anatomy using F18-fluorodeoxyglucose PET and dimensionality reduction techniques. The authors propose a global information processing model for mental functions that links neuroanatomy, cognitive neuroscience and clinical neurology. They also apply the model to normal aging and other degenerative diseases of mental functions.
