A review of recent advances on the properties of polypropylene-carbon nanotubes composites

Uwa O. Uyor et al.

Summary: Polypropylene (PP) is widely used in engineering applications, but lacks desired thermal properties and mechanical strength. The incorporation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the PP matrix has improved its engineering properties while retaining its lightweight and flexibility. Despite challenges, the development of PP-CNTs composites shows promising advancements and has important industrial applications.

Perovskite catalysts with different dimensionalities for environmental and energy applications: A review

Huanhuan Li et al.

Summary: Perovskite materials have gained popularity in energy and environmental protection research due to their adjustable composition and structure, thermal stability, redox properties, and electronic/optical properties. Their morphology plays a crucial role in their physical and chemical performance, which can be enhanced by altering their size and shape. Scientists have recently utilized perovskite materials of various dimensions (0D, 1D, 2D, and 3D) to address environmental and energy challenges by employing different preparation methods or compositing with diverse supports. This review concludes by discussing the challenges and future development directions of perovskite materials with different dimensions in the field of environment and energy.

Recent advances of metal-organic framework-based and derivative materials in the heterogeneous catalytic removal of volatile organic compounds

Renzhi Rao et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the recent applications of heterogeneous catalytic technologies in the degradation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including photocatalysis, thermal catalysis, and other catalytic approaches. It highlights the applications of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and their derivatives in VOCs degradation, such as the progress of MOF-derived metal oxides in the treatment of toluene. The mechanisms of VOCs degradation by different catalytic approaches are systematically presented, and the views and directions of VOCs treatment technology development are discussed.

Non-oxide supported Pt-metal-group catalysts for efficiently CO and toluene co-oxidation: Difference in water resistance and degradation intermediates

Fukun Bi et al.

Summary: In this study, Pd and Pt catalysts loaded on non-oxide support (g-C3N4) were compared for CO and toluene co-oxidation, and Pt/C3N4 showed superior catalytic performance. Various characterizations and DFT calculations revealed that Pt/C3N4 had smaller Pt nanoparticles, better reduction ability, more active oxygen species, and positively charged Pt species, which contributed to its enhanced catalytic performance. The introduction of H2O suppressed the catalytic performance of Pd/C3N4 but expedited CO and toluene oxidation over Pt/C3N4, as confirmed by DFT calculations. The difference in degradation intermediates, distributions, and toxicity between Pd/C3N4 and Pt/C3N4 during toluene oxidation under different conditions was also revealed.

The promoting effect of alkali metal and H2O on Mn-MOF derivatives for toluene oxidation: A combined experimental and theoretical investigation

Xiaodong Zhang et al.

Summary: In this work, alkali metal-doped manganese-based metal-organic framework (Mn-MOF) derivative materials were obtained and their catalytic activities in toluene oxidation were studied. The results showed that the Na-doped Mn-MOF derivatives exhibited higher catalytic activity due to their larger specific surface area, lower average manganese valence, and better adsorbed oxygen mobility. Furthermore, the addition of alkali metal and the presence of water in the reaction atmosphere promoted the mineralization of toluene.

Effect of temperature on the microwave absorbing properties of SiO2/CNTs composite

Xiaofeng Li et al.

Summary: SiO2/CNTs nano-composites were synthesized using the modified Stober method to explore their microwave absorbing performance at gradient temperatures. The results showed that the increase in temperature led to enhanced conductivity and a gradual increase in the real and imaginary parts of the complex permittivity, improving the attenuation. Ultimately, the sample tested at 400 degrees C demonstrated optimal microwave absorbing performance.
