Highly stretchable, supersensitive, and self-adhesive ionohydrogels using waterborne polyurethane micelles as cross-linkers for wireless strain sensors

Lingling Lei et al.

Summary: The development prospects of ionohydrogels with excellent mechanical properties and high sensitivity are necessary due to the rapid development of multi-functional flexible wearable sensors. A novel waterborne polyurethane (WPU) micelle with reactive groups on the surface has been prepared as a crosslinker, and then reacted with polyacrylamide (PAM) to obtain a polyacrylamide-polyurethane/ionic liquid (PAM-WPU/IL) ionohydrogel. The ionohydrogel exhibited ultrastretchability, good mechanical resilience, and excellent self-adhesion strength, and could be used as a strain sensor for monitoring human movement with high strain sensitivity.

Improving the Thermal Properties of Polycarbonate via the Copolymerization of a Small Amount of Bisphenol Fluorene with Bisphenol A

Xiaozhou Zhang et al.

Summary: Polycarbonate is a transparent plastic with high mechanical/thermal properties. Copolycarbonates from bisphenol-A (BPA), 9, 9-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) fluorene (BHPF), and diphenyl carbonate (DPC) showed higher glass transition and thermal decomposition temperatures compared to regular polycarbonates, while maintaining their processing properties. This makes them potential materials for high-temperature resistance.

Synthesis and properties of reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesive based on a novel phosphorus-nitrogen-containing polyol

Zhaoyong Lu et al.

Summary: The novel phosphorus-nitrogen-containing polyol BHAPE synthesized through Kabachnik-Fields reaction showed enhanced thermal stability and flame retardant properties in HMPURs. Increasing BHAPE content within a certain range can improve the mechanical properties of HMPURs, with an optimal content of 4-6wt%. Furthermore, introducing polycarbonate diol can effectively enhance the hydrolysis resistance of HMPURs.
