Surface-engineering of carbon fibre paper electrode through molecular imprinting technique towards electrochemical sensing of food additive in shrimps

Ashlay George et al.

Summary: An efficient and practical electrochemical sensor has been developed for the quantitative determination of 4-hexylresorcinol (4-HR) in shrimps, in order to extensively examine and regulate the excessive usage of food additives. A conducting polymer film with molecularly imprinted 4-HR was synthesized by electro-polymerizing 2-aminothiazole (AT) on a carbon fiber paper electrode. The sensor exhibited outstanding electroactivity towards 4-HR and a detection limit of 6.03 nM. The modified electrode showed high selectivity to 4-HR due to intensive contact via intermolecular hydrogen bonding, as confirmed by characterization techniques including SEM, FTIR, profilometry, and XPS.

Development of a voltammetric electronic tongue for the simultaneous determination of synthetic antioxidants in edible olive oils

Lucas Blandon-Naranjo et al.

Summary: This work presents a simple and reliable electroanalytical method to determine BHA, BHT, and PG in edible olive oils using a voltammetric electronic tongue (E-tongue) in combination with chemometrics tools. The E-tongue utilizes low-selective sensors and advanced mathematical procedures for signal processing, resulting in more accurate and selective analytical methods. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed electrochemical method through recovery studies and comparisons with other methods in terms of model quality and percent recovery assays.
