Enhanced microwave absorption property of silver decorated biomass ordered porous carbon composite materials with frequency selective surface incorporation

Yi Liu et al.

Summary: Silver coated porous carbon (Ag@PC) was successfully synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal synthesis process with fir as a biomass formwork. The metallic Ag particles were evenly distributed in the pores, accelerating graphitization process of the amorphous carbon. The Ag@PC composite without PVP exhibited higher dielectric constant and better electromagnetic wave dissipating capability. Combining with FSS further improved the EM wave absorbing performance.

Understanding the Synergistic Effects and Structural Evolution of Co(OH)2 and Co3O4 toward Boosting Electrochemical Charge Storage

Peng Gao et al.

Summary: A novel Co3O4/Co(OH)(2) heterostructure was obtained via electrodeposition on nickel foam, with a sandwich-like structure and a freestanding electrode. The presence of a conductive and robust interfacial Co3O4 layer effectively minimized charge transfer resistance and stabilized the interface, improving the electrode's rate and cycling performance. Structural evolution of Co(OH)(2) and Co3O4 upon cycling was systematically elucidated, showing irreversibly changing of Co(OH)(2) to CoOOH and negligible phase changes of Co3O4, indicating good structural integrity contributing to significantly improved cyclability.

The modified Williamson-Hall plot and dislocation density evaluation from diffraction peaks

Andras Borbely

Summary: This study numerically calculated diffraction peak profiles for dislocation ensembles with different spatial arrangements and correlations between the Burgers vector signs. The results showed that the arrangement parameter M and the square root of the dislocation density play key roles in determining the relationship between peak breadth and the magnitude of the diffraction vector in the modified Williamson-Hall (mWH) plot. The mWH plot is found to be very useful in practice, indicating a consistent asymptotic line-profile analysis.
