Production of CuCoO2 nanoparticle/SnO2 nanofiber heterostructures for visible light photocatalytic applications

Sami Dursun et al.

Summary: p-type CuCoO2/n-type SnO2 heterostructured photocatalysts were successfully prepared and applied for the removal of organic pollutants in wastewater. The heterostructures exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity due to the narrow band gap CuCoO2 absorbing more light and generating more charge carriers.

PMN-PT nanoparticle/SnO2 nanofiber heterostructures: Enhanced photocatalytic degradation performance by ultrasonic wave induced piezoelectric field

Sami Dursun et al.

Summary: Effective charge separation is crucial for improving the efficiency of photocatalysts in removing industrial toxic dye in wastewater. The combination of the piezoelectric effect and the semiconductor photocatalyst can significantly accelerate charge separation, leading to an increase in photocatalytic efficiency by about 29% under magnetic stirring and 32% under ultrasonic wave vibration.

Improved formic acid oxidation using electrodeposited Pd-Cd electrocatalysts in sulfuric acid solution

Azar Gharib et al.

Summary: In this study, nanostructured Pd-Cd alloy electrocatalysts with different compositions were synthesized using the electrodeposition process. Various characterization techniques were employed to study the morphology and elemental composition of the samples, while different electrochemical tests were conducted to evaluate their catalytic activity towards formic acid oxidation. The results showed that Pd-Cd alloys exhibited higher reactivity for formic acid oxidation compared to pure Pd, with the sample containing a lower amount of Pd demonstrating the highest electrocatalytic activity.

Pd2CuCo/C Hybrid with Nanoflower Morphology toward Oxygen Reduction and Formic Acid Oxidation Reactions: Experimental and Computational Studies

Biraj Jyoti Borah et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Pd2CuCo/C hybrid electrocatalyst with nanoflower morphology was successfully developed, demonstrating superior electrocatalytic performance towards the oxygen reduction reaction. The electrode showed highly open hierarchical nanostructures with preferentially exposed crystal planes and multiple surface defects, offering high stability and fast electron transfer during fuel cell operation. The intricate synergy between Pd, Cu, and Co in the alloy NF, along with the strong interaction with the carbon matrix, contributed to the remarkable electrocatalytic activity.

Bhugendra Chutia et al.

Summary: A hybrid heteronanostructure of alpha-MnO2/Mn3O4/CeO2 embedded in Vulcan carbon with an atomic-level coupled nanointerface is explored for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), showing enhanced bifunctional activity with CeO2 playing an essential role in increasing the surface Mn/4+ for ORR/OER processes. The unique hybrid structure with oxide-oxide interface is correlated to explain the mechanistic pathway, with multistate Mn and Ce synergistically influencing the superior activity and stability.

S. K. Safdar Hossain et al.

Summary: In this study, bimetallic PdxCoy nanoparticles supported on nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide catalysts were synthesized and characterized for their structural features. The electrochemical performance of the catalysts was evaluated through various experiments, showing that Pd1Co1/N-rGO exhibited the highest mass activity and steady-state current density among the tested catalysts. The nitrogen-doped graphene played a significant role in enhancing the performance of Pd1Co1/N-rGO catalyst, in addition to the bifunctional effect of Co.
