Rong Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, AlxCoCrFeNiCu high entropy alloy was prepared using the powder metallurgy method. The effect of Al content on the microstructure and corrosion properties of the alloy was systematically investigated. The results showed that increasing Al content promoted the formation of the BCC structural phase. The Al1.0CoCrFeNiCu high entropy alloy exhibited good electrochemical corrosion properties, with corrosion primarily starting in the form of spot corrosion. The FCC structural phase demonstrated better resistance to nitric acid corrosion compared to the BCC structural phase.

High temperature tensile and creep properties of CrMnFeCoNi and CrFeCoNi high-entropy alloys

Min-Gu Jo et al.

Summary: The high temperature tensile and creep properties of FCC high-entropy alloys CrMnFeCoNi and CrFeCoNi were evaluated. It was found that there was no remarkable difference in the tensile behavior between the two alloys, but the creep rupture life of the CrFeCoNi alloy was significantly longer. This could be attributed to the enhanced solid solution strengthening and stronger grain boundary of the CrFeCoNi alloy, which led to the reduced formation of deleterious sigma phase.

Vacuum diffusion bonding of TC4 titanium alloy and T2 copper by a slow cooling heat treatment

Baosheng Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, TC4 titanium alloy and T2 copper were successfully joined through vacuum diffusion bonding and a two-step slow cooling heat treatment. The bonding temperature and bonding time had a significant impact on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the joint. Traditional cooling process resulted in crack formation at the interface, which could be eliminated by the two-step slow cooling process. The interfacial microstructure of the bonded joints consisted of various phases, and the joints obtained by traditional cooling process failed during natural aging. The results provide an effective strategy for joining titanium alloy and copper in high precision friction components of aerospace engines.

Improving the intermediate- and high-temperature strength of L12-Co3(Al,W) by Ni and Ta additions

Zhenghao Chen et al.

Summary: The effects of Ni and Ta additions on the mechanical properties of Co-based superalloys were investigated. The additions of Ni and Ta increased the yield strength at intermediate and high temperatures by increasing the stability of the L1(2) phase. The strength increase at intermediate temperatures can be attributed to the increased complex stacking fault energy and the increased anti-phase boundary energy on (111) planes. The strength increase at high temperatures is mainly due to the increased L1(2) solvus temperatures.

Improving high-temperature mechanical properties of cast CrFeCoNi high-entropy alloy by highly thermostable in-situ precipitated carbides

X. W. Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, significant high-temperature strengthening of cast CrFeCoNi HEA was achieved by in-situ precipitation of highly thermostable carbides, addressing the insufficient medium- and high-temperature strengths. The high thermostability of the microstructure, formed by the synergy of lacking growth driving force and Zenner pinning effect by carbides, contributes to the improved mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. The strengthening effect is mainly attributed to the precipitation hardening of carbide particles, leading to increased yield strength and ultimate tensile strength with enhanced elongation at higher temperatures.
