Rapid solidification of AlCoCrFeNi2.1 High-entropy Alloy

A. Nassar et al.

Summary: The effect of cooling rate on the dual-phase AlCoCrFeNi2.1 Eutectic High-Entropy Alloy was investigated. The microstructure of AlCoCrFeNi2.1 gradually evolved with increasing cooling rate, and different crystal morphologies were observed.

A review of hot deformation behavior and constitutive models to predict flow stress of high-entropy alloys

Zeinab Savaedi et al.

Summary: This review article provides an overview of the hot deformation behavior and constitutive description of flow stress in high entropy alloys (HEAs). The potential of hot working for grain refinement, reduction of casting defects, and enhancement of mechanical properties of HEAs is explained. The effects of processing parameters, alloying elements, dynamic precipitation, and the presence of phases on the hot deformation behavior and restoration processes are discussed. The application of processing maps for characterizing flow instability, cracking, flow softening, and dynamic recrystallization during hot forming of HEAs is presented. Various constitutive models and methods for flow stress modeling and flow curve prediction are assessed. Suggestions for future research works are proposed.

Large-size high-strength and high-ductility AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high-entropy alloy produced by hot-rolling and subsequent aging

Zhe Liu et al.

Summary: The feasibility of thermomechanical processing for large-size AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high-entropy alloy has been evaluated. It is found that hot-rolling can achieve outstanding tensile properties comparable to cold-rolling, while cold-rolling and warm-rolling are not effective in deforming large-size AlCoCrFeNi2.1.

On the short-time thermal phase-stability of as-cast AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high entropy alloy

J. Charkhchian et al.

Summary: This study investigates the short-time thermal phase-stability of the as-cast eutectic AlCoCrFeNi2.1 high entropy alloy. Microstructural characterization, thermodynamic calculations, and assessment of mechanical properties were conducted to explore the effect of different temperatures and soaking times on the stability of primary dendritic regions and the formation of ordered phases. The results show that the primary dendritic regions grow and destabilize with an increase in annealing temperature and soaking time, leading to the formation of needle shape B-2 ordered phases. Despite the unstable nature of the primary constituent phases, the material hardness increases significantly at a moderate soaking time.

Thermal stability, microstructure and texture evolution of thermomechanical processed AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic high entropy alloy

M. H. Asoushe et al.

Summary: The microstructural and textural evolutions of as-cast high entropy alloy were investigated during thermomechanical processing at temperatures ranging from 25 to 500 degrees Celsius. The alloy exhibited significant strength-ductility ratio at room temperature and maintained mechanical stability at elevated temperatures. The volume fractions of constituent phases and the texture of the alloy were found to be consistent across different deformation temperatures.

Hot deformation behavior and processing map of a Sn0.5CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy with dual phases

H. T. Jeong et al.

Summary: The hot compressive deformation behavior of a cast Sn0.5CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy revealed that the MnNiSn-rich ordered FCC phase exhibited a significantly higher degree of dynamic recrystallization compared to the FCC solid solution phase. Continuous dynamic recrystallization was only pronounced in the FCC solid solution phase at the highest temperature of 1248 K.

Hot compression behaviors and microstructure evolutions of a cast dual-phase NiCoFeCrAl0.7 high-entropy alloy

Qiang Wang et al.

Summary: The hot compression behaviors and microstructure evolutions of a dual-phase high-entropy alloy were investigated, showing that dynamic recrystallization played a key role in flow softening. A constitutive equation describing the correlations between flow stress and hot compression parameters was constructed, and the activation energy of the alloy was significantly improved. Continuous dynamic recrystallization was found to govern flow softening, with the substructure within the deformed microstructure evolving from disordered dislocations to DRX grains.

Unique hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of a dual FCC-phase CoCrCu1.2FeNi high entropy alloy

Jufu Jiang et al.

Summary: The hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of the CoCrCu1.2FeNi high entropy alloy composed of two FCC phases were investigated through hot compression tests and EBSD analysis. Two optimized hot working regions were found and asynchronous dynamic recrystallization was observed. The DRX mechanism shifted from DDRX to CDRX with increasing temperature, leading to the formation of hot working defects.
