Influence of B contents on the microstructure, fracture toughness and oxidation resistance of Mo-Si-B alloys

Summary: The Mo-10Si-(0, 5, 10, 15)B alloys were prepared by arc melting and the effect of B content on their microstructure and properties was studied. With the increase of B content, the microhardness of the alloys increases while the fracture toughness decreases significantly.

Influence of MoSi2 on the microstructure and elevated-temperature wear properties of Inconel 718 coating fabricated by laser cladding

Summary: In this study, MoSi2 reinforced Inconel 718 composite coatings were fabricated by laser cladding to enhance the hardness and elevated-temperature wear properties. Different contents of MoSi2 in the coatings resulted in similar matrix phases, with the coating containing 30 wt% MoSi2 exhibiting the highest microhardness and mechanical properties.
