Improved γ-Linolenic Acid Production from Cellulose in Mucor circinelloides via Coexpression of Cellobiohydrolase and Delta-6 Desaturase

Yao Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, genetically engineered strains of Mucor circinelloides overexpressing CBH2 and D6 genes were constructed to effectively use cellulose for GLA synthesis. The coexpression of CBH2 and D6 significantly increased the biomass, lipid yield, and GLA production compared to the control strain. This work provides a theoretical basis for the transformation of cellulose into functional GLA.

Deletion of Plasma Membrane Malate Transporters Increased Lipid Accumulation in the Oleaginous Fungus Mucor circinelloides WJ11

Junhuan Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, the deletion of two plasma membrane malate transporters in Mucor circinelloides WJ11 led to increased lipid content and altered expression of key genes involved in lipid biosynthesis, providing evidence of the association between plasma membrane malate transporters and lipid accumulation in oleaginous fungi.
