A confirmatory factor analysis of the novice nurse practitioner role transition scale

Hilary Barnes et al.

Summary: As interest in supporting new nurse practitioners' transition to practice increases, the Novice NP Role Transition (NNPRT) Scale, the first instrument to measure this concept, has been validated with a five-factor structure. The NNPRT Scale includes 37 items, has high internal consistency reliability (0.95), and is supported by convergent validity evidence. It will be useful for researchers, administrators, and clinicians exploring factors affecting NNPRT and implementing support programs.

Summary: The aim of this study was to explore the practice experiences of home-based care nurses to understand their competency and needs. Through individual interviews with 17 nurses, it was found that nurses in home-based care perform a broader range of competencies with a significant degree of independence.
