The orthopaedic nurse practitioner: Breaking tradition to fill gaps in care delivery through varied scopes of practice

Naomi O'Rourke

Summary: This article reviews the current literature to identify how Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioners (ONPs) fill gaps in care delivery through various scopes of practice in musculoskeletal trauma, degenerative disease, tumour, and bone health. Summary: The survey revealed that advanced care practitioners (ACPs) play important roles in pediatric surgery in various fields and are widely recognized and satisfied. They participate in various medical procedures, act as bedside assistants, and bill for services. The number of ACPs is not correlated with satisfaction, and most people believe that ACPs enhance the training of residents and fellows.
