Analysis of the Effect of Electrode Materials on the Sensitivity of Quartz Crystal Microbalance

Qiao Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of electrode materials on the performance of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors through theoretical calculations, experimentation, and finite element analysis. The results showed that QCM with gold electrodes had the highest mass sensitivity and better humidity sensitivity compared to those with silver and aluminum electrodes. The simulation indicated that the density and Young's modulus of the electrode material parameters mainly affected sensitivity, providing guidance for optimizing QCM sensor performance and enhancing quantitative analysis capabilities.

Time-Resolved Nanobeam X-ray Diffraction of a Relaxor Ferroelectric Single Crystal under an Alternating Electric Field

Shinobu Aoyagi et al.

Summary: Lead-containing relaxor ferroelectrics exhibit significant piezoelectric capabilities due to their heterogeneous structures. Time-resolved nanobeam X-ray diffraction reveals the local lattice strain and Bragg intensity distributions under an alternating electric field, demonstrating the presence of nanodomains with different responses within the measured local area. The dynamic motion of nanodomains in the heterogeneous structure enables large piezoelectric lattice strain and fatigue-free ferroelectric polarization switching.

The Effect of Electrode Thickness on Mass Sensitivity of QCM Cannot Be Ignored

Xianhe Huang et al.

Summary: The accuracy of mass sensitivity value of Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) greatly affects data analysis and experiment repeatability. Uncertainty in electrode thickness values provided by companies inevitably brings large experimental errors, leading to inaccuracy and poor repeatability of QCM experiments.
