Predicting ductile fracture during biaxial sheet stretching using an ellipsoidal void model

Kazutake Komori et al.

Summary: The study predicted ductile fracture during biaxial sheet stretching for two types of ferrous alloys and one type of nonferrous pure metal using the ellipsoidal void model. Experimental results showed that the fracture forming limit was not significantly affected by different magnitudes and types of prestrain. The calculated fracture forming limit using the ellipsoidal void model closely matched the experimental results, while the traditional ductile fracture criteria showed differences.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of specimen geometry on simple shear deformation behavior, showing that a notch inclination angle of 45 degrees provides a substantial improvement in deformation behavior compared to a horizontally oriented notch. Finite element analysis was used to conduct a parametric study of the notch inclination angle.

Simulation of the influence of Lode parameter on ductile fracture using an ellipsoidal void model

Kazutake Komori

Summary: The influence of the Lode parameter on ductile fracture was investigated using an ellipsoidal void model and elementary theory. It was found that the void shape and configuration at fracture depend more on stress triaxiality than the Lode parameter. Additionally, the equivalent strain at fracture when mu = +/- 1 is 2/√3 times larger than when mu = 0.
