Teriflunomide Loaded SPION Nanoparticles Induced Apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cells

Tina Rabizadeh et al.

Summary: In this study, polydopamine-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles were used to deliver the immunomodulatory drug teriflunomide to breast cancer cells. The nanoparticles showed promising potential by increasing cytotoxicity and gene expression in the cells. The study suggests that the designed teriflunomide-loaded nanoparticles could be considered for future breast cancer therapy research.

Reduction-sensitive flower-like magnetomicelles based on PCL-ss-PEG-ss-PCL triblock copolymer as anti-cancer drug delivery system

Effat Nekoueiyfard et al.

Summary: The main goal of many researchers is to introduce an intelligent pharmaceutical nanocarrier for targeted drug release and reducing the side effects of chemotherapy. In this study, a reduction-sensitive flower-like magnetomicelle containing doxorubicin (DOX) and magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4) was synthesized by self-assembly of an amphiphilic triblock copolymer. The innovative design showed high drug loading content, reduced drug release in physiological conditions, fast degradation at the targeted site, and burst release of more drug content at an earlier time. Comparative studies demonstrated that the DOX-loaded magnetomicelle (D-LMM) exhibited superior cellular uptake and toxicity behavior on human breast adenocarcinoma cells compared to non-reduction sensitive control group, free DOX, and a commercial liposomal DOX product.

Design of novel polyurethane-based ionene nanocarriers for cancer therapy: Synthesis, in-vitro, and in-vivo studies

Athar Mahdieh et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel cationic soybean oil-based polyurethane ionene nanocarrier for targeted drug delivery, which showed high efficacy in inhibiting tumor growth. The carrier could efficiently load the anticancer drug 5-fluorouracil and its inhibitory effect on tumor growth was enhanced when folic acid was added as a targeting moiety.

Use of Saponinosomes from Ziziphus spina-christi as Anticancer Drug Carriers

Zahra Nazemoroaya et al.

Summary: In this study, saponin-rich fraction (SRF) from Ziziphus spina-christi was used to prepare SRF-loaded nanophytosomes, which showed high toxicity on B16F10 melanoma cells but decreased cytotoxicity on L929 fibroblast cells. The results suggest that SRF from Z. spina-christi has anticancer activity, and the saponinosomes prepared in this work may have potential in controlling tumor growth and reducing side effects.

Magnetic Micellar Nanovehicles: Prospects of Multifunctional Hybrid Systems for Precision Theranostics

Margarida S. Miranda et al.

Summary: Hybrid nanoarchitectures such as magnetic polymeric micelles (MPMs) are highly promising nanotechnology-enabled materials that combine the advantages of polymeric micelles and magnetic nanoparticles in biomedical applications. MPMs can serve as contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), heat generators in hyperthermia treatments, and magnetic-susceptible nanocarriers for drug delivery and release. The versatility of MPMs makes them powerful vehicles for ultrasensitive, precise, and multifunctional diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. They have the potential to be applied in unexpected fields such as bioengineering and regenerative medicine.
