Online Frequency Estimation on a Building-like Structure Using a Nonlinear Flexible Dynamic Vibration Absorber

Francisco Beltran-Carbajal et al.

Summary: This article addresses the online frequency estimation of forced harmonic vibrations on a building-like structure, using a nonlinear flexible vibration absorber. It presents algebraic formulae to compute the harmonic excitation frequency on the nonlinear vibrating mechanical system using solely available measurement signals. The fast algebraic frequency estimation allows the online tuning of a semi-active dynamic vibration absorber to achieve a high attenuation level of undesirable vibrations.

Frequency Domain Feature Extraction Investigation to Increase the Accuracy of an Intelligent Nondestructive System for Volume Fraction and Regime Determination of Gas-Water-Oil Three-Phase Flows

Osman Taylan et al.

Summary: This research investigates a methodology using X-ray tube, Pyrex-glass pipe, and NaI detectors to determine flow regimes and volume fractions of gas-oil-water three-phase flows. Different flow patterns and volume percentages were simulated, and results show that frequency characteristics can be effective in determining these parameters. The study aims to improve the precision of X-ray radiation-based three-phase flowmeter using artificial neural network and feature extraction techniques.
