Overview of Catalysts with MIRA21 Model in Heterogeneous Catalytic Hydrogenation of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene

Alexandra Jakab-Nacsa et al.

Summary: The aim of this work is to characterize, rank, and compare the catalysts of 2,4-dinitrotoluene catalytic hydrogenation to 2,4-toluenediamine by applying the Miskolc Ranking 21 (MIRA21) model. This systematic overview provides a comprehensive picture of the reaction, technological process, and the previous and new research results. Eight catalysts achieved the highest ranking (D1), whereas the transition metal oxide-supported platinum or palladium catalysts led the MIRA21 catalyst ranking list.

Data analysis of CO2 hydrogenation catalysts for hydrocarbon production

Aleksandr Fedorov et al.

Summary: Literature data on CO2 hydrogenation catalysts for hydrocarbon production via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) were collected and analyzed. Some catalysts were found to directly convert CO2 to hydrocarbons through the FT mechanism. The chain growth probability, a key parameter for catalyst selectivity, was influenced by reaction conditions and catalyst composition, preparation method, active sites, and pretreatment conditions. Doping with alkali metals like K or Na was found to be the most effective way to improve catalyst performance.

Development of magnetic, ferrite supported palladium catalysts for 2,4-dinitrotoluene hydrogenation

V Hajdu et al.

Summary: Different metal oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using sonochemical treatment and combustion, and utilized as supports for palladium catalysts. The Pd/NiFe2O4 catalyst showed the highest TDA yield of 99%, followed by the Pd/CoFe2O4 catalyst with 84.2%. The complete recovery of the catalyst from the reaction medium is facilitated by the full magnetic properties of the ferrite support.

Combustion method combined with sonochemical step for synthesis of maghemite-supported catalysts for the hydrogenation of 2,4-dinitrotoluene

Viktoria Hajdu et al.

Summary: Maghemite particles were synthesized using a combination of combustion method and sonochemical step for preparation of Pt and Pd supported catalysts. The most active catalysts were Pd/maghemite and bimetallic Pd-Pt/maghemite, which were easily separable post-reaction due to their magnetic properties. These catalysts were immediately ready for use in 2,4-dinitrotoluene hydrogenation to produce 2,4-toluenediamine.

Revealing property-performance relationships for efficient CO2 hydrogenation to higher hydrocarbons over Fe-based catalysts: Statistical analysis of literature data and its experimental validation

Qingxin Yang et al.

Summary: The manuscript introduces a mathematical approach to identifying fundamentals affecting catalyst performance, providing guidelines for tailored catalyst design or reactor operation. Analysis of literature data identified the Pauling electronegativity of dopant for Fe2O3 as a descriptor for CO2 conversion and CH4 selectivity, while combining alkali and transition metals as promoters for Fe2O3 was found to enhance selectivity for C2+ hydrocarbons. The developed Mn-K/Fe2O3 catalyst hydrogenated CO2 into C2-C4 olefins with a selectivity of 30.4% at a CO2 conversion of 42.3%, and an overall selectivity to C(2+-)hydrocarbons of 83.1%.

Precious-Metal-Decorated Chromium(IV) Oxide Nanowires as Efficient Catalysts for 2,4-Toluenediamine Synthesis

Viktoria Hajdu et al.

Summary: In this study, efficient hydrogenation catalysts were developed by decorating chromium(IV) oxide nanowires with palladium and platinum nanoparticles using a simple and fast method, resulting in active catalysts without the need for further treatment. Both Pd/CrO2 and Pt/CrO2 catalysts showed high activity in the hydrogenation of DNT, with high yields of TDA. The catalysts were easily dispersible in the reaction medium and could be removed using a magnetic field due to their magnetic behavior.
